CALLOUT FOR ARTISTS

APOGAEA Arts Festival - Grant Deadline - January 31, 2007

What is Apogaea

Apogaea is a collaborative art and music festival where a temporary autonomous zone supports community, freedom of expression, self-reliance and creativity.

This summer festival is Colorado’s official regional Burning Man event. Now in its fourth year, Apogaea draws 500 citizens to celebrate radical self-expression in the Colorado Rockies.

Creative Projects

Creative projects at Apogaea face unique challenges in design, creation and removal. Weather, site conditions, citizens, safety, and transportability should be considered. Projects must leave no trace and you must leave the environment as you found it.

Grants Available

Apogaea’s Creative Committee will accept grant applications for visual art, workshops, performances, theme camps, installations, environments, sound, video and possibly even more. We encourage all creative types to apply for grants to help see their visions to completion.

In the past artists have been awarded grants between $50 and $450. The Creative Committee will take into account the feasibility of your creative concept, adherence to a leave no trace ethic, your accomplishments and your support of the Apogaea community.

Scarlet Liberal Journal of the Arts - Callout for submissions

As a nonprofit publication, Scarlet: A Liberal Journal of the Arts is unable to compensate its contributors at this time. It rewards contributors with hard-print, full-color copies upon publication.

DEADLINES:
May Issue - Submit by February 10
November Issue - Submit by August 10

VISUAL ART: We accept photography and photographs of original drawings, paintings and sculpture that present a progressive and humanitarian view of life and love.

Please send no more than four images in JPG format per issue to editor@scarletliberaljournalofthearts.org and include your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, title of the work(s) and short biography in the body of the email. For quality purposes, it is critical that the JPG images are originals and not made from JPG copies of your images. JPG is a "lossy" format and each time it is saved, the image degrades. ALWAYS work from master copies in non-lossy formats such as TIF or PSD.

WRITING: We accept concise, powerful essays and/or fiction (3,000 words or less per piece) and poetry (150 words or less each per poem) that present a progressive and humanitarian view of life and love.

Please do not send more than one short essay or fiction piece and/or no more than three poems per issue. Written work may be sent in PDF or DOC formats via email.

Please provide your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and a biography in the body of your email. Also, please include your name and the title of the work on each page of written material. Email your materials to: Editor@scarletliberaljournalofthearts.org.
